QC Photos: What to Look for Before Shipping Your Haul
Quality Check photos are your best defense against bad purchases. Learn how to inspect stitching, materials, logos, and packaging like a pro before approving your items for international shipping.

Quality Check (QC) photos are the single most important tool in a replica buyer's arsenal. These photographs, taken by your shopping agent at their warehouse, show you exactly what the supplier sent before it ever leaves China. Learning to read QC photos effectively can save you hundreds of dollars and countless disappointments.

Why QC Photos Matter

When you order through a shopping agent, the process works like this: you submit an order link, the agent purchases from the supplier, the supplier ships to the agent's warehouse, and the agent photographs everything before sending it to you. These warehouse photos are your only chance to catch issues before the item is shipped internationally - a process that is expensive and difficult to reverse.

Many first-time buyers make the mistake of blindly approving items without carefully examining the QC photos. They assume that because a product is on the LoongBuy Spreadsheet, it will automatically be perfect. While our curators do their best to vet suppliers, individual items can still have defects, incorrect sizing, or wrong colorways. The QC step is your quality control checkpoint.

The QC Inspection Checklist

Stitching Quality. Look closely at all visible seams. Are they straight and even? Do threads hang loose? Premium replicas should have clean, consistent stitching that matches the original's pattern. Common issues include crooked side seams on t-shirts, loose threads on hoodie cuffs, and uneven stitching on sneaker panels.

Logo and Branding Accuracy. This is where many replicas fail. Compare the logo placement, font, spacing, and size against authentic reference photos. The LoongBuy community maintains reference libraries for popular items. Pay special attention to embroidery quality, print crispness, and whether logos are properly aligned.

Material and Texture. QC photos should show the fabric's texture and sheen. Does the leather look plasticky? Is the cotton too thin? Does the material drape correctly? Experienced buyers can spot material issues from photos alone. If something looks off, ask your agent for additional close-up photos.

Color Accuracy. Screen colors can be deceiving, but major color differences are usually visible. If you ordered a "cream" hoodie and the QC shows bright white, that is a problem. Similarly, if a sneaker's navy blue looks black, you may want to request a return.

Size and Fit Check. Agents usually include a measurement tape in QC photos showing key dimensions. Compare these against the supplier's size chart and your own measurements. Do not rely solely on tagged sizes - a "Large" from one factory might fit like a "Medium" from another.

Hardware and Details. For items with zippers, buttons, buckles, or metal hardware, check that everything functions and looks correct. Is the zipper smooth? Do buttons have the right engraving? Are drawstring tips properly branded?

Common QC Red Flags

The LoongBuy community has compiled a list of frequent issues spotted in QC photos. Crooked backprints on graphic tees are extremely common. Off-center logos on sneakers can ruin an otherwise good batch. Incorrect wash tags or missing neck tags are telltale signs of lower-tier factories. Deformed shoeboxes may indicate rough handling during domestic shipping.

Water stains or marks on clothing should be reported immediately - they often do not wash out completely. For sneakers, always check that both shoes in a pair match in color, texture, and shape. Factory errors sometimes result in mismatched pairs.

How to Request Additional Photos

Most agents offer free QC photos from standard angles, but you can request additional shots for a small fee or sometimes for free. Useful additional angles include: close-up of the logo/branding area, inside tag photo, sole pattern check for sneakers, and a photo with a measurement tape laid across the chest for clothing.

When requesting additional photos, be specific. Instead of "please take more photos," write "please take a close-up photo of the backprint and a photo of the inside neck tag." Clear instructions get better results.

When to Return vs. When to Accept

Not every minor flaw warrants a return. A single loose thread can be trimmed. A slightly off-center print that is only visible up close might be acceptable for a budget batch. However, structural issues - wrong colors, major logo flaws, significant sizing errors - should always be returned.

The cost of returning an item domestically within China is usually low (5-15 CNY), but check your agent's policy. Some agents charge a small restocking fee. Factor this into your decision. If the item was very cheap and the flaw is minor, it might be more economical to accept it than to pay return shipping and wait for a replacement.

Building Your QC Reference Library

Experienced LoongBuy users maintain folders of QC photos from different batches and suppliers. Over time, you will develop an eye for what good looks like. Our Discord and Telegram channels have dedicated QC discussion threads where community members help each other evaluate photos. Post your QC with the product name and batch, and experienced buyers will chime in with their assessments.

The more QC photos you review, the faster you will become at spotting issues. Many veteran buyers can evaluate a set of QC photos in under 30 seconds, having internalized what good stitching, correct logos, and proper materials should look like.
